WESS NYLE / ARTIST & PRODUCER02 / BEHIND THE SOUND
I make music with an awareness of the spiritual times we’re in.
I make honest music with a wide range of influences: whether it’s Southern Gothic country, Northern soul, East Coast punk or West Coast hip-hop….I don’t fit into any single American genre, I’m just loyal to the soil.
A melody, a feeling, a few words that won’t leave you alone. That’s often where a song starts for me. I try to stay with it and let it show me where to go.
Whether it’s my own music or a song we’re making together, I love the moment it begins to feel alive. My part is to listen, stay open, and help it find its shape.
Let’s talk musicA NOTE FROM ME
I don’t make music for the people in a massive church auditorium every Sunday. My life has never been that perfect. I’ve never felt anything but phony in those places, putting my hands up in the air with my eyes closed like I’m praying, but really just trying to mimic the people all around me.
I’ve never experienced God in the same ways other people do.
I learn my lessons the hard way and make music for other people that do too.
03 / AROUND THE ROOM
This is where we lock in. I used to call it the spaceship. Lately, I’ve been thinking ‘the flow state’—tapping into that energy where it feels like the song is making itself.

Start with what you’re hearing, then explore the sounds and arrangement that help it come through.
↗Settle in, find the feeling, and give yourself room to sing it in a way that feels true.
↗Listen for how everything belongs together, and bring a little more clarity to what’s already there.
↗Bring a demo, a half-formed idea, or a feeling you haven’t found words for yet.
05 / MAKE CONTACT
If a song’s been finding its way to you, I’d love to hear about it. We can take it from there.
